Granite VNA Honors Vung Thomte with Peer-Nominated Award
Granite VNA honored Vung Thomte, licensed nursing assistant, with the organization’s peer-nominated “Living Our Values” award. Each year, Granite VNA invites employees to nominate one of their own who best demonstrates the organization’s core values of respect, compassion, culture of excellence, leadership and stewardship in his or her actions among peers and with patients, families, community members, donors and volunteers.
"Congratulations to Vung for being named the recipient of the agency's Living Our Values Award," said Beth Slepian, President and CEO, Granite VNA. "Her commitment to our patients and families,as well as her teamwork, were recognized in the nominations from her peers. We are grateful to Vung and to all our staff for their outstanding work in supporting our mission."
Thomte has been employed with Granite VNA for nearly 20 years and has provided personal care services to residents of John H. Whitaker Place, an assisted living facility in Concord, for the entirety of her time with the agency.
In nominating Thomte, one colleague noted that she is wonderful with every patient she comes in contact with and always has a smile and a positive attitude. Another peer said Thomte has been a constant ray of sunshine and her leadership is a guiding light to be followed. Her peers also note that Thomte is very good at training new employees and helping guide and direct new residents [of John H. Whitaker Place] as they learn the ropes and can ‘take charge’ when a situation calls for it.
“I’ve known Vung for at least 10 years,” said Cindy Bergeron, RN, BSN, Granite VNA Home Care Director. “She is remarkable and resilient and has always been a reliable advocate for her patients.”
“I am very appreciative of this honor,” Thomte said. “I am so humbled and surprised. I have great respect for the work I do, so following the mission of the agency is easy. I work with a great group of staff. I will not miss an opportunity to pay it forward next time.”
This year, Granite VNA employees submitted 21 nominations, sharing heartfelt stories, positive interactions and observations about their peers. The agency’s inaugural leadership class and previous award recipients reviewed the nominations anonymously and selected Thomte.
