Granite VNA has named Shaz Anwar, DO, Hospice Medical Director. In this role, Dr. Anwar will work collaboratively with Dr. Christopher Allen, Chief Medical Officer, and the agency’s hospice team to provide the best possible care to patients receiving hospice in their own homes and at Hospice House. He will oversee the agency’s hospice medical services, and provide clinical support and education for staff.

Dr. Anwar completed a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, and an internal medicine residency at LewisGale Hospital Montgomery in Blacksburg, Virginia, where he served as chief resident from 2017-2018. He recently served as the Hospice Medical Director for Capital Caring in Falls Church, Virginia.

A graduate of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Anwar is a member of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and the American Osteopathic Association.
