Let's Have Dinner and Talk About Death

Meaningful end-of-life conversations with loved ones can be difficult, but they can be liberating as well.

Granite VNA, in partnership with Bennett Funeral Home, will host “Death Over Dinner,” an intimate meal and guided conversation about death and dying, on Wednesday, April 17, at 6 p.m. in the Celebration of Life Center at Bennett Funeral Home in Concord.

End-of-life experts from the agency’s hospice team will lead small group discussions during the meal.

“Death over Dinner provides an environment for participants to openly express their thoughts about death and dying,” said Granite VNA Chief Hospice Officer Kris Green, MS, RN. “Although different for everyone, the process of sharing these feelings enables us to prepare for challenging moments and reaffirm what is most important to us.”

The “Death Over Dinner” concept is based on the idea that the dining table is a comfortable place for difficult conversations. The ritual of sharing a meal sets us at ease and encourages connection with our companions. The April 17 meal will be generously provided by Bennett Funeral Home.

“Death Over Dinner,” is free of charge and open to the public, but space is limited, and pre-registration is required. For information and to register, click here.
