The Prescription Center Receives Donor Recognition Award

A business that is more than familiar to Granite VNA and the greater Concord region has been named the recipient of the Donor Recognition Award as part of our annual fundraiser Passion for Caring

“We appreciate the recognition and it is very nice,” said Charles Fanaras, RPh., owner of The Prescription Center which has two Concord locations and was founded in 1951 as Fanaras Pharmacy. “Granite VNA and our organization are really very closely aligned. We both have goals of keeping patients at home and providing the care and services they need in their homes.”

In 2008, Granite VNA (formerly Concord Regional VNA) established the Donor Recognition Award to formally honor supporters who give financially and of their time to help provide essential community services and their programs.

The Prescription Center has been a strong supporter of Granite VNA and its mission for more than 20 years. Since 2009, they have been the Leadership Sponsor of our annual fundraiser Passion for Caring and continue to be an annual sponsor of Hospice Lights of Life.

“Passion for Caring is a great event,” Charlie said about the longstanding event that was previously in-person before 2020. “It is a fun event. All of our pharmacy employees who have attended have thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s just a reflection of the VNA. It is a great organization doing great work. You really cannot ask for a lot more than that.”

The Prescription Center has also supported important milestones for the agency including the Hospice House 10th Anniversary campaign and the agency’s 110th Anniversary campaign.

In 2008, Charlie’s personal involvement in the mission of Granite VNA increased further when he brought his philanthropic passion to the Board of Trustees. While on the Board, he served on the Development Committee including as Chair from 2010 to 2014 and again from 2017 to 2019.

Charlie was also a member of the Governance & Nominating and Audit committees. Today, he continues to serve on the Development Committee.

“I have fond memories of serving on the Board,” he said. “Board members were passionate about the VNA in a fun and caring sense that made it very enjoyable. They got the work done and they enjoyed doing it.”

The Prescription Center and the Fanaras family have made the Concord area a much better place to live. They truly understand the philanthropic role of business and the positive impact that a strong influential corporation can make in the lives of their community. With their dedication to Granite VNA and our community, we are honored to award The Prescription Center this year.
