Dying with Laughter by Jay MacNamee
The Village Players, 51 Glendon Street, Wolfeboro, NH 03894
There’s an old Hollywood saying: “Comedy is about them; tragedy is about us.” Dying with Laughter is a comedy about us: a play that tackles an emotionally charged subject every human being confronts – the end of life – yet it does so in a humorous, touching, and uplifting way. In the style of Gurney’s The Dining Room and Cariani’s Almost, Maine, the play consists of several short pieces that stimulate people’s minds, tickle their funny bones, and touch their hearts. This production – a joint fundraiser for the Village Players and Granite VNA – will be the first time all seven pieces have been performed together.
