Granite VNA Names Daniel Ray, MD, as Hospice Medical Director

Home health care and hospice agency Granite VNA has appointed Daniel Ray, M.D., as its new hospice medical director.

Dr. Ray will be responsible for the medical components of the agency’s hospice services, which include providing clinical support and education to nurse practitioners and hospice teams, and collaborating with both internal and external partners and referral sources to expand and improve access to the agency’s hospice services.

Dr. Ray brings more than two decades of experience in health care, specializing in palliative medicine and hospice care. Prior to joining Granite VNA, he served as the medical director for Catholic Medical Center in Manchester, N.H., where he oversaw palliative care services. He also previously held positions as a consultant physician for Teleios Collaborative Network in Flat Rock, N.C., and as a staff physician for Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, Pa.

“Dr. Ray brings diverse work experience across palliative and hospice care roles, which will be a tremendous asset to our hospice team and the agency as a whole,” said Kris Green, M.S., R.N., Granite VNA’s chief hospice officer. “We are excited to welcome Dr. Ray to Granite VNA, and we look forward to his leadership in providing exceptional services and care to our hospice patients and their loved ones.”

In addition, Dr. Ray has also held various positions in higher education, serving as a clinical professor at DeSales University in Pennsylvania, an associate professor of medicine at the University of South Florida and an assistant professor of clinical medicine at Penn State University.

Dr. Ray earned a medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and a Master of Science degree in Epidemiology from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He is a certified hospice medical director, and is board certified in hospice and palliative medicine, critical care medicine, pulmonary disease, and internal medicine.

Granite VNA provides home health and hospice care to residents of 82 communities throughout the Capital Region and central New Hampshire and at Hospice House in Concord.
