The New England Home Health Nurse Residency Program is a year-long transition-to-practice program that serves as a bridge to support and enhance the professional development of new graduate nurses entering home care practice.

Core Residency Curriculum

Throughout each program step, curriculum content is incorporated into the Residency Program. The core competencies include:

  • Introduction to Home Health Care in the Certified Home Health Agency
  • Patient Home Visit
  • Patient Conditions and Problems
  • Patient-Centered Care and Interventions
  • Certified Home Health Care Delivery

Program Description

The Nurse Residency Program offers virtual training and focused learning opportunities to a group of newly employed home health nurse residents while each resident is receiving individualized clinical training, preceptor guidance, and clinical manager support while providing quality care to patients in their place of residence. The virtual education and discussion with peers in combination with the individualized clinical experiences, provide a path to learning new skills, advancing career goals, and progressing to expert nursing care to home health care patients.

The 12-month, paid comprehensive, evidence-based and standardized Nurse Residency Program promotes critical thinking, clinical skills, mentored problem-solving, and leadership skills.
