Granite VNA opened New Hampshire’s first Hospice House in 1994 to help provide community members with a peaceful and supportive end-of-life experience.
Comfortable, Home Setting
The Hospice House is a warm, inviting home-like environment for hospice patients who require around the clock clinical care. In the comfort of this setting, patients and loved ones are together, spending the time remaining on their terms, while receiving high quality specialized care.
Benefits of Hospice House
Hospice House in a 10-bedroom home with amenities including a pull-put sofa bed in each patient room for loved ones to rest, personalized dining options, large living room and family kitchen areas, a screen porch, a multi-faith meditation room, and Internet access.
Granite VNA provide volunteer support such as companionship and respite, pet therapy, and therapeutic arts. Additionally, we offer therapeutic music from certified music practitioners and are a proud “We Honor Veterans” partner.
Outdoor spaces include a large, accessible wrap-around deck, a nature path, and the Susan McLane Memorial Garden where families can enjoy fresh air and beautiful surroundings.
Since opening in 1994, we have supported many personal and poignant end-of-life experiences and celebrations.
Specialized Care
General inpatient care is available for patients in need of acute medical and nursing care to manage pain and other symptoms that are unable to be managed in a home-based setting.
Routine care is available for patients who have symptoms that are well managed in the last few days to weeks of life. Routine care may be provided for stays of several weeks.
Respite care is provided for up to five days to allow a patient’s primary caregiver a temporary break from care giving.
