Supporting New Hampshire’s Family Caregivers: Granite VNA’s Commitment

November marks National Family Caregivers Month, a time to recognize and honor the invaluable contributions of family caregivers. In New Hampshire, approximately 168,000 residents provide unpaid care to loved ones, a commitment valued at about $2.8 billion annually. These caregivers play a crucial role in enabling individuals to remain in their homes and communities, often balancing caregiving with other responsibilities.
At Granite VNA, we understand the challenges caregivers face and are dedicated to providing support through various programs and services that aim to alleviate stress, build confidence, and foster connection:
- Caregiver Connection: This program offers family caregivers a valuable opportunity to connect with one another and engage with a team of professionals. Whether in person or online, Caregiver Connection programs provide a safe, supportive space where caregivers can share experiences, find encouragement, and navigate challenges together.
- Powerful Tools for Caregivers: Caregiving can add stress to our physical and emotional health. “Powerful Tools for Caregivers” is an educational program to help family caregivers learn to take care of themselves. This program helps caregivers reduce personal stress, change negative self-talk, communicate more effectively, handle different feelings, and make challenging decisions.
- Walk-In Wednesday: On the fourth Wednesday of each month, one of our Medical Social Workers is available to answer questions about in-home support, caregiver resources, advance directives, and community health programming.
- Capital Area Memory Café: On the third Wednesday of each month, providing a joyful and creative social experience for people with memory loss and their caregivers to gather with others in a positive and engaging environment. Pre-registration is not required.
